St Peter’s Church

Benefice of Dunton, Wrestlingworth and Eyeworth – Reverend Liz Lavelle

St Peter’s Church will open as usual each Sunday for private prayer until 4pm but now the period of public mourning for our late Queen Elizabeth has ended it is now closed during the week.  The Book of Condolence is also officially closed. Our grateful thanks to those who opened our church daily, arranged the Book of Condolence. raised and lowered our flag appropriately and rang our bell during this time.

Francis Coales Chalice Service

Since 1985, St Peter’s church has been subject to continuous restoration of its fabric.  This is not surprising for a Grade 1 listed building that is almost 850 years old.

In “recognition of this remarkable programme of restoration and repair over the years”, the Francis Coales Charitable Foundation has awarded St Peter’s the ‘Coales Memorial Chalice’ which the church will hold for one year.

The chalice will be presented at a special service on 9 October at 11am, presided over by the Venerable Dave Middlebrook, Archdeacon of Bedford and our priest-in-charge, Revd. Liz Lavelle and will be attended by H.M. Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Mrs Susan Lousada.  Refreshments to follow in the Memorial Hall.

Services at St Peter’s Wrestlingworth take place at 11am. Join us for a warm welcome, an engaging service and refreshments afterwards.
